Awhile back I was honored to be asked to shoot a college friend’s maternity session. Jenna & Michael now have a lovely baby boy named Vincent…but I’d thought I’d share a few pre-Vincent photos.
This is my second shoot with Drew & Thomas. I love their family dynamic – our shoots are always filled with jokes & teasing, but it’s always good natured & fun. Between teasing their mom, Drew flexing & Thomas trying to sneak in funny faces as soon as the shutter clicks, I somehow manage to capture some pretty handsome young men. Thanks for making our shoots so much fun, you crazy kids.
The direction of my brand has been on my mind a lot lately. I’m constantly compiling inspiration for where I want to take this photographic endeavor; a big part of that being the possibility of a new name & certainly a logo & other branding. My ideas have always centered around the natural world, but lately the west & the desert & its respective wildlife that comes with it has taken center stage. Spend about two minutes in my room & you’ll find at least seven pieces of paper with lists of corresponding nouns & adjectives & possibly a sketch or two. With the possibility of moving quickly approaching, I am feeling nostalgic about my southwestern home. Growing up in the desert is a huge part of who I am. There’s a specific feeling that I get when I think about the west – a palatable sense of freedom & solitude. Hard to explain but it’s in my heart & it fits where I am right now.
Yeah, I know. Nerd alert.
I have been spending my evening runs exploring new desert trails, hoping that I’ll come to a definitive answer. So far, all I’ve got is a really gnarly cactus thorn in the sole of my favorite Nikes. I’m gonna go ahead & keep looking.
